Senior Backend Engineer

This role is for a Senior Backend Engineer who is passionate about demonstrating a strong sense of ownership and commitment to driving projects to completion.

Your daily tasks will include:

• Design, build, and maintain Java backend services, ensuring seamless integration with frontend and with data processing jobs.
• Work closely with team members across disciplines to achieve product goals and maintain clear lines of communication.
• Identify and resolve issues in the application, enhancing both backend and indirectly frontend performance and scalability.
• Take full responsibility for the entire project lifecycle, actively driving progress and ensuring project success.
• Help build and strengthen backend best practices throughout all of the backend services.

We are looking for a person who has:

• Proficiency in Java for backend development, with extensive experience in frameworks like Spring Boot, Micronaut or similar technologies for building scalable microservices.
• Understanding of RESTful APIs and web services.
• Knowledge of database technologies, both SQL (like MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (like MongoDB).
• Knowledge of Apache Kafka for building real-time data streaming applications.
• Proficiency in version control systems, such as Git.

Nice to have things:

• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) for deploying and managing applications.
• Understanding of containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
• Knowledge of web security practices and performance optimization.
